Edel Hockey Triple-T Systems for Khumalo Hockey Stadium

Edel Grass has completed the renovation of the pitches at the Khumalo Hockey Stadium in Bulawayo (Zimbabwe). Edel Grass has been responsible for the renovation of the stadium pitch and the training pitch next to the stadium. The old water based pitches, built in 1995, have been replaced by the innovative Edel Hockey Triple-T System. A water based system has been installed at the Khumalo Hockey Stadium, the training pitch is replaced by a sand-obscured system.

The renovation of the two pitches has been started in July 2011. There was some time pressure on these projects, because they had to be finished before the start of the provincial championships in August. The Hockey Association of Zimbabwe had a big preference for the Edel Hockey Triple-T System, after a successful installation at the Theodosia Okoh Stadium in Accra, Ghana. This pitch with unique playing characteristics has been used for the African Cup of Nations in 2009. An other critical point was Edel Grass' ability to manage international projects with such a high pressure on time. At the end, all the work has been done right on time and both pitches are ready for use now.

The stadium in Bulawayo will also be used for the London 2012 African Olympic Qualifiers, which will be held from September 2th till 11th. Six nations fight for a sole ticket to represent the African continent. The poor state of the old pitch made it necessary to renovate the pitches for this tournament.
